Temporary End to Open Houses in BC

With Covid cases on the rise here in BC, recently today, November 6 2020, the Real Estate Council of BC (RECBC) has strongly advised real estate agents to temporarily discontinue open houses and limit face to face interactions.
In lieu, agents are allowed to continue private showings, by following the guidance from the Public Health Organization and to urge clients to use virtual tools to show the properties of interest. We continue to assist our clients with face to face interactions via phone, zoom, Whatspp, Facebook messenger and can do live showing through these virtual resources.
In our private showings, we continue to administer the protocols of safety by wearing masks, gloves & handling all lights and doors during a home tour and to ensure sanitization stays in effect between all showings.
On October 30th, the BC Public Health Officer issued orders to restrict the number of people that may attend a private residence to six individuals, providing the space permits the required physical distancing. This order includes all residences, multi-tenanted, strata and rental properties. Due to these factors, most sellers and their agents are requesting waivers to be signed by the agents and their buyers in regard to travel and exposure to Covid, before the actual private showing can take place.
